Construction Project Engineer
A deceptive title for an interesting job!
With a large amount of Opex project work on the books, our client is in need of a Construction Engineer to come on board and effectively and efficiently execute and deliver construction and maintenance projects on high pressure pipelines and associated equipment.
In this job you will be:
- Overseeing Opex type construction and maintenance projects to ensure resources are available when needed, contracts are in place, etc.
- Participating in Project control management. i.e. keeping track of budgets, schedules, etc.
- Project QA / QC. Monitoring work to ensure compliance with defines inspection & testing, etc.
- Some direct supervision of field staff involved in the project
- Project hand over and close out.
To be our successful candidate, you will:
- Have at least 10 years proven experience working on heavy mechanical construction/maintenance projects
- Have pipelines, pressure vessels and associated equipment experience, preferably within the Oil & gas industry
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical engineering or similar
- Have a thorough understanding of HAZOPS and associated HSE
- Have proven staff & contractor management skills
The job is a mix of office and fieldwork with an approximately 70/ 30 split and as such you must be comfortable working in either situation.
You will be experienced in dealing with ‘live’, operational situations and will have the ability to interact with operations and production teams and an understanding of the need for time constraints, etc.
You will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager on a regular basis so it is vital that your written and oral communication abilities are at the highest standard, along with well-developed computer skills.
