In a highly specialised branch of the Civil Infrastructure maintenance industry, this company has a unique offering of an extremely clever product / system that can robotically install a durable and clean re-lining on the inside of tired old drains and sewers.They’re the only ones offering this solution to Regional and City Councils throughout New Zealand and their cost-effective and efficient system saves the country millions in civil works and the consequential disruption every year.

The special challenge of this Civil Project Engineer role is the ability to plan and run multiple projects in a wide range of different locations, often in sites you won’t physically visit. The keys to success will be the ability to have very efficient and organised systems to track everything; fantastic communication skills by phone & electronic means, and the ability to plan plan plan. You will be liaising with clients and will need to be able to communicate masterfully at all levels from site teams to clients and engineers to ensure smooth and profitable delivery. You’ll also be able to negotiate and resolve things when something’s gone wrong – which inevitably will happen given the complexity of activities.

A solid Civil Engineering background will be essential.A good mechanical understanding will also be a big help as when project issues crop up, often the solution will be a clever mechanical thought / plan.Being great with logistics will also be a big factor.

The right person will be have that special ability to be very personable on the phone and in written communications as so many times you won’t be able to go and deal with issues face to face. Someone who has no phone or written personality will struggle to generate the warmth in relationships that will be necessary between the times when you’re face to face with clients and staff, who will often be in remote locations.
