My client are an established, heavy industrial maintenance and manufacturing contractor providing specialist, integrated maintenance, fabrication and projects services. Reporting into the COO this role will form an integral part of the business and will be a key link in achieving the company vision to be the No#1 provider of skilled personnel for maintenance shutdowns, fabrication and capital projects. A new, strategic role, created, following a sustained period of growth you will be tasked with implementing business improvement initiatives aimed at driving a high performance and continuous improvement culture. Although aligned heavy industrial industry experience is beneficial if you have significant performance improvement, business administration, financial or change management experience within a technical engineering, industrial or similar environment you will be considered! The purpose of the role is to provide operational management and leadership to the business by implementing technical and developmental training opportunities to staff, supporting delivery of the strategic company plan. If you can you show a successful rack record of managing a profit and loss business unit successfully and want to leverage this into a unique, succession planning, executive opportunity, this role is not to be missed!

Plan, organise, direct and deliver operational activities of engineering departments to embed a high performance culture
Varied role with focus across H&S, Quality and Continuous Improvement
Support development of trade staff (Fabrication, Machining, Welding, Hydraulics) through operational management, mentoring, training / education and leadership
Provide performance feedback loop to identify individual development needs, growth opportunities and recognise achievement
Be integral to implementation of strategic plan, provide influence, identify opportunities to streamline processes and increase business unit capabilities

Tertiary qualified in Engineering or Industrial Trade
Formal business or management education with a proven track record of personal and professional development
Background managing a business unit or profit and loss centre within a complex heavy industrial, manufacturing or related industry
Inspirational leader who can inspire and build high performing teams
Experienced with change management to deliver
Strategic, analytical thinker with developed problem solving skills
Developed commercial acumen, financially literate and experienced managing budgets
Safety first approach with an understanding of H&S requirements and legislation for staff working in large industrial and hazardous environments
