Don’t bother if you’re after a cushy job, but if challenge excites you and you’re innovative and a skilled shaper of culture and attitudes, this might be the opportunity you’re looking for.
Deconstruction is a critical part of the construction industry - which by its nature, involves a much less predictable environment than construction; and therefore requires a much smarter approach to keeping people and the environment safe from hazards, toxins and pollutants.
Deconstruction is also an opportunity to recover and recycle parts and materials.
This Co. is a premium player in the Auckland Deconstruction industry and are experts at coming up with clever methods not just to clear the way for new construction but to minimise environmental impact and recycle material that in the past might have just been dumped.
They have preferred contractor status with numerous institutional and commercial property owners, developers etc. Their work involves deconstruction of houses, commercial buildings, commercial interiors, institutional buildings and interiors – including sometimes even the land and contaminated soils; to make way for renovations and new builds.
Legacy building materials and structures take serious expertise to safely dismantle and the workforce needs to be on their game every second of the day to keep them safe from physical and airborne hazards; also while safely disposing of toxic materials etc.
Your role will include heavy involvement with H&S plans for each new project/site, regular engagement and frequent physical presence on site to observe, evaluate, innovate, influence and train staff to ensure everyone and the environment is safe - at the same time as enabling maximum productivity.
You will also be responsible for maintenance and development of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems and Documentation including the Co’s ISO systems. You’ll know how to collect &collate H&S Statistics and report internally and externally. You’ll keep the Co Compliant and Worksafe happy; conduct investigations, professionally running those full processes.
The right candidate will be an experienced H&S operative with a background in construction or engineering. Experience with working around toxic materials including airborne particles will be highly regarded.
The role will attract a competitive salary + company vehicle. The very nice head office facility you’ll work from is based in central Auckland to be accessible to sites that are Auckland-wide. Occasional out-of-town sites will crop up from time to time.
We’re looking for someone motivated and interested in coming up with creative solutions that will enable to workers to be highly productive in challenging environments.
