As construction activity in Bay of Plenty continues to increase, this company has a strong foothold in the region and is looking to consolidate it’s operations, construction and project management abilities. The company operates in two other regions of NZ and has been delivering high quality construction projects for the industry over the past 50 years. They work on projects in the commercial, industrial, education and large scale residential sectors.
This will be an internally and externally focussed role, looking at applying best practise within the business across staff resources & performance, project and process streamlining, forward work and tenders, quality assurance and the consistency of service delivery across their projects. The position plays an active role in meeting project budgets through assessing and analysing operational and financial risks that may be encountered in the execution of planned construction projects.
The role will form part of the senior management team and will see the successful person working closely with the Directors to ensure the highest levels of service are provided to clients on every project, and that every action the business takes is aligned with agreed company strategic and business goals. Duties will be centred around, but not limited to:
Working hand-in-hand with the project team to create a mutual understanding of the project schedule based on client requirements
Conduct reviews and analysis of all project and contract documents so as to be familiar with all details
Help project managers and quantity surveyors in the arrangement and analysis of projects and scheduling of reports on projects
Oversee projects as they are being carried out to make sure that the work is done according to outlined specifications, and that they also conform with project timelines
Assist in the maintenance, development, and enhancement of the company’s relationships in a bid to produce strategic partnerships
Skills & Experience required
Previous experience in a similar role, and essentially, must have solid construction experience on medium to large scale vertical construction projects
A background in operation, construction management or project management with main contractors is essential
Experience in streamlining workflow, having a process driven outlook
An ability to build and maintain successful relationships
Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach others
