Tauranga City Council are on the hunt for an exceptional Planner or Project Manager to join their talented City & Infrastructure Planning Team in the role of Project Leader: Urban Planning. Tauranga City is experiencing growth, which is in turn is creating significant planning, urban form and transport challenges and they require someone who can step in and contribute to the solutions of these challenges.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading planning and growth management projects to effectively develop, inform and deliver the SmartGrowth Settlement Pattern, Urban Form & Development Initiative and the Future Development Strategy. Key projects in this role include planning the Te Tumu, Tauriko West, Tauriko Business Estate extension and Keenan Road urban growth areas, natural hazard planning, and the next District Plan review.

New greenfield structure planning and rezoning
Investigating urban growth areas
Multi-modal transport planning and landuse transport integration
Partnering with the government, other councils and a range of key stakeholders
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning, Project Management or a growth management related field
Extensive experience in delivering strategic policy advise and working experience of the RMA and LGA
Working knowledge of urban planning, transport planning and infrastructure servicing
Exceptional communication skills, comfortable presenting publicly and able to convey complex issues, succinctly to technical and non-technical audiences
A demonstrated track record of urban growth related policy development and implementation or project delivery
Adept at managing strong relationships with a range of stake holders such as developers, landowners, government agencies, local communities and tangata whenua
