Civil Foreman - Road Maintenance & Construction
Start as Foreman - progress to Project Manager with this Go-ahead Co. doing fast-in, fast-out roading works in high-traffic locations
If you're on-to-it enough and enjoy variety - projects that turn over quickly rather than being stuck on one site for weeks, months or years, this could be your gig - especially if you’ve got an eye to progress into Project Management. If you're a plodder - don't bother reading further but if you're a high performer and enjoy reviewing and refining your practice and methods; you can win the loyalty and motivate guys to work efficiently - you'll love this job!
The intention is to start someone who’s competent and comfortable as a working foreman but who will have the ambition and intelligence to be able to progress. Do you believe you could handle a higher level of paperwork, planning and organising responsibility beyond just the day’s works and what’s happening on site? Can you use a computer? are you’re happy to learn how to take ownership and responsibility to the next level? If so – we need to talk because this means you are a career thinker and that’s what we’re after.
This Co's major project type is road builds, safety works, intersection upgrades and especially where there is street lighting and traffic signals work. They're usually in high-traffic locations with multiple challenges including access, traffic/safety, local stake-holders and pressure to get it done fast and get out.
With this role there can be up to two week per month of night works. This has significant up-sides though because a common routine will be to start the week on a Sunday night, do four nights until Thursday night, then have a Friday off giving you a three day weekend to pursue your hobbies and interests. You’re paid time and a half for everything over 45 hours/week.
You'll be regularly changing location, liaising with the Client, Engineers, the Public, suppliers and the wider team. This is a Working Foreman/Supervisor role. You'll be the right person if you're good at mentoring less experience guys and training them in techniques, machinery operation and leading by example from your Civil experience. Naturally you’ll have your WTR and be a good operator in your own right.
The position attracts a competitive rate in the region of $80k - $95k + a good quality company vehicle with reasonable personal use.
