Although there are no strict educational entry requirements, many New Zealand employers prefer candidates who have relevant machine operation training. The personal requirements of a Machine Operator can include the following:

  • Able to work independently and as a part of a team

 

Typical Responsibilities

The day-to-day responsibilities of a factory Machine Operator can include the following:

  • Adjusting and operating manufacturing machinery
  • Lifting materials into machines
  • Testing throughout production stages and the final product
  • Maintaining machinery and reporting faults or damage
  • Ensuring all machinery is operated to Health & Safety standards

 

Progression

The future of a manufacturing is heading towards computer-aided design. Machine Operators who want to stay ahead of the curve and progress their careers forward can undergo training and learn Computer-Aided Manufacturing systems.

 

Salary Range

32K – 40K per annum (NZD)
