Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Engineer Jobs

How to Enter

To become an Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineer, many New Zealand employers will prefer you to have a degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field. Having previous experience working in Electrical Engineering, or in an Oil & Gas site, can also make you a more appealing candidate to these businesses.

Typical Responsibilities

The typical responsibilities of an I&E Engineer can include the following:

  • Testing and calibrating electrical equipment, systems and networks
  • Troubleshooting faults and problems with equipment, systems and networks
  • Disassembling and reassembling equipment
  • Installing, testing and replacing writing and conduits
  • Working with other Engineering and Maintenance Staff

The next logical step for many I&E Engineers is a move into management or project management positions. Whilst these are both fantastic career paths, other rewarding options for Engineers include becoming consultants at engineering consultation firms and moving into other areas of Engineering, such as Environmental, Mechanical or Civil.

Salary Range

Entry: 40K – 70K per annum (NZD)
