We’re currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underground Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join the maintenance team at an established gold mining operation in Australia. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you would be a critical part of keeping the underground fleet running efficiently and safely.

The location of the mining town is an hour outside of Melbourne making it an ideal location to explore wider Australia. This mine has an excellent 7 days on and 7 days off schedule providing you with a great work life balance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on a range of underground heavy mobile equipment, including loaders, trucks, drills, and utility vehicles.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure fleet reliability and compliance with safety standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
  • Work closely with the maintenance planner and underground operations to prioritise urgent repairs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and to OEM and site standards.
  • Maintain detailed service records and equipment logs.

You Will Bring:

  • Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic / HD Fitter.
  • Proven experience working on underground mining equipment
  • Solid fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Strong safety focus and commitment to maintaining a zero-harm workplace.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team under demanding underground conditions.
  • Previous gold mine experience preferred but not essential.
