The Position
As Principal Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction, overseeing multidisciplinary engineering projects from conception to completion. You’ll mentor a talented team, foster a culture of innovation, and play a key role in business development and client relationship management. Your influence will extend across project delivery, process improvement, and the ongoing growth of the engineering department.
This is a strategic hire for the company, succession planning and the opportunity to become a shareholder in the company is available.
Relocation support is available for those relocating from elsewhere in New Zealand. As part of a competitive remuneration package, including health insurance and professional membership fees covered.
Skills and Experience Required
· A minimum of 8 years mechanical design experience - ideally gained on pressure equipment / pressure vessels / piping / fluid dynamics / process engineering, gained on projects in the industrial sectors (eg Oil & Gas, Power & Energy, Food & Beverage, Dairy)
· Proven experience in technical leadership and strategic planning within engineering consultancies, asset owners or similar industrial engineering environments
· Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills
· Strong track record managing complex, multidisciplinary projects from inception to delivery
· Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop senior and junior engineers
· In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
· Commitment to continuous professional development and innovation
