Are you a mechanically skilled tradesperson or technician looking to transition into a QA-focused role?
Join a large-scale geothermal power project near Taupō, supporting the site construction and commissioning of one of New Zealand’s most significant renewable developments.

About the Role

Working as part of the site-based projects team, you’ll take responsibility for supporting the mechanical quality assurance (QA) process across all stages of construction.
This hands-on role combines documentation, inspection, and coordination — ideal for someone with a practical background looking to grow into site QA or project engineering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and managing QA documentation including ITPs, ITRs, installation and calibration records, welding and inspection reports

  • Conducting regular inspections during construction to ensure mechanical work meets drawings, specifications, and codes

  • Supporting completion walkdowns and punchlist reviews with the client and project team

  • Tagging and system identification during mechanical completion and turnover

  • Tracking and resolving NCRs (non-conformance reports), collaborating with engineers and contractors to close out issues

  • Assisting with materials receiving, traceability, and record-keeping

  • Preparing and submitting final QA packages for client and regulatory approval

  • Contributing to problem-solving, process improvements, and maintaining strong HSE standards

About You

You’ll likely come from a practical mechanical background such as:

  • Mechanical fitting, fabrication, welding, NDT, or inspection

  • Experience with plant, power, or industrial environments — e.g. pipework, pumps, pressure vessels, or heat exchangers

You’ll also bring:

  • Good understanding of QA/inspection records and documentation (ITP, ITR, NCR, welding records)

  • Strong attention to detail and an organised, methodical approach

  • Sound computer skills (Word, Excel) and ability to learn project QA systems

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A valid NZ driver’s licence and commitment to safe work practices

Recent mechanical diploma/degree graduates with site experience are also encouraged to apply.

Why Apply?

  • Step away from the tools into a career-building QA position

  • Gain exposure to major renewable energy and industrial construction projects

  • Structured mentoring and long-term career development

  • Competitive salary with stability and progression in a respected project environment
