The Role:
As the Principal or Lead Electrical Building Services Design Engineer, the person will provide technical input and leadership across a range of sectors from project conception through to completion. You’ll be a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring designs are commercially sound, coordinated across all disciplines, and aligned to project objectives. You’ll also mentor junior engineers, support knowledge sharing, and contribute to the ongoing development of the team.
Other duties include defining commercial and project risks associated to your discipline’s documentation on projects; drive the coordination process on projects, including early stages in 2D; develop and maintain technical resources and keep up to date with codes and standards.
Skills and experience required:
- A tertiary Electrical Engineering or Building Services qualification.
- At least 8 years experience in building services design consulting.
- Strong client and project stakeholder engagement skills.
- Prior experience with the NZ building code.
- CPEng registration or approaching.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
- Excellent oral and written communication and influencing skills
- Experience working across the full project life cycle including construction monitoring and contractor supervision.
- Having an understanding of project commercials (Fee’s vs time spent) and guiding project workflow accordingly.
