About the role
Following the damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle, a programme of recovery work is underway to restore State Highway 2 and State Highway 35 in the region back to two lanes. Join as a Project Engineer to lead delivery of mid to large-scale roading projects, applying your civil engineering expertise and knowledge of NZ contracting standards to drive successful outcomes.
Duties
- Manage project delivery from planning and reporting through completion (3–12 month look-ahead, monthly planning).
- Co-ordinate with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders and manage subcontractors effectively (instructions, variations, claims, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with NZ civil engineering standards and legislation
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and quality control measures
- Provide technical guidance and resolve engineering challenges onsite
Skills & Experience
- Degree or qualification in Civil Engineering required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil construction project delivery
- At least 3 years’ experience specifically as a Project Engineer in NZ working on major civil sites.
- Strong knowledge of NZ civil contracting business practices
- Commitment and understanding of working within Te Ao Māori and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
