About the role:
You’ll be working in a busy yard handling a mix of tasks, from unloading trucks and loading containers for export to general yard duties and keeping the site safe and tidy. The role is physical and hands-on, with opportunities to upskill on machinery such as forklifts or gantry cranes, while being part of a supportive team and building towards long-term work.
Key duties include:
- Safely unloading trucks and loading containers (forklift, gantry crane or hand-stacking)
- Processing and baling scrap materials
- Weighing and recording incoming loads in the yard system
- Classifying and distributing materials correctly
- Performing daily equipment checks and reporting issues promptly
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe working environment
- Assisting colleagues and supporting other areas of the yard when required
What we’re looking for:
- Strong focus on health & safety
- Good physical fitness
- Reliability, honesty, and flexibility
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clear communication skills
- Clean criminal record and ability to pass drug testing
- Forklift licence a bonus (training available for the right person)
