I am seeking an aspirational and driven civil construction professional to join the business in a pivotal leadership-track Project Manager role. This is a strategically targeted growth appointment intended to seed future regional operations. Start as a Structures PM and grow to Area Manager in 18 months or so as you advance your interpersonal skills while delivering a variety of high-value bridges, industrial, roading and three-waters projects.
The ideal applicant is someone with strong delivery experience, commercial acumen, and leadership capability, who is looking for a step-change in career scope and responsibility.
The Role:
As a Civil Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of civil construction projects, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other civil structures. You’ll be at the forefront of ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring safe delivery and maximising commercial returns.
- Oversee larger, complex projects with a team of engineers and supervisors, while also being hands-on with smaller projects.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, using Project Management software (MS Project, P6, or similar).
- Ensure compliance with NZS3910 and the Construction Contracts Act.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members to enhance the company’s brand and reputation.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- MINIMUM of 5+ years of civil contracting experience in New Zealand, delivering complex infrastructure projects in 3 waters, bridges, pump stations, roading and renewables.
- In-depth understanding and experience of NZS3910 and its application in civil projects.
- Proficient in Project Management Software (MS Project, P6 or similar).
- Be motivated, loyal, credible, & capable to grow into a Contracts or Regional Manager.
- Strong leadership, people management, and interpersonal skills. Values-led, high integrity, collaborative and hands-on.
