A well-established New Zealand-owned manufacturer is on the lookout for a curious and detail-driven Technical Writer to join their specialist compliance and documentation team. Based in Lower Hutt, this is a full-time permanent opportunity ideal for someone who thrives on hands-on product learning and translating complex technical information into clean, clear user documentation.
What You’ll Do:
- Create and maintain customer-facing product documentation, manuals, and datasheets.
- Collaborate with engineering, compliance, and product teams to extract technical information and translate it into accessible content.
- Dive into technical products — reverse-engineering if needed — to fully understand functionality and usage.
- Manage version control, image processing, and formatting for both print and digital outputs.
- Support ongoing updates and improvements of the product documentation library.
What You Bring:
- Demonstrated experience in technical writing — ideally in electronics, manufacturing, or a regulated industry.
- Strong grasp of English technical writing conventions and exceptional attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of tools like Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and image editing software (e.g. Photoshop, GIMP).
- An understanding of electronics or software configuration (reading schematics, board-level familiarity, or similar) is a definite bonus.
- Comfortable managing your workload independently, with a proactive attitude and a collaborative working style.
Bonus Points For:
- Exposure to fire safety, electronics, or technical standards in NZ/Australia, the UK, US, or EU.
- Experience managing technical documentation libraries or e-learning/instructional content.
