Electrical Engineer Jobs

How to Enter

The job of an Electrical Engineer can be dangerous and complicated, so New Zealand employers expect professionals to hold a relevant degree, such as a Bachelor of Engineering degree, to prove their competency. Alternatively, a three-year degree in Engineering Technology enables people to become an Engineering Technologist, and often work in more specialised fields.

Typical Responsibilities

The typical responsibilities of a Driver can consist of the following:

  • Developing and updating electrical systems and equipment
  • Researching and creating methods to generate, distribute and manage electricity
  • Calculating the costs of engineering projects and the materials needed
  • Creating instruction manuals for installing new electrify systems and equipment
  • Installing and maintaining electrical systems and equipment or supervising these installations and maintenance
  • Conducting and overseeing electricity system tests and correcting any faults
  • Writing reports on work completed

Progression

The next logical step for many Electrical Engineers is a move into management or Project Management positions.
