How to Enter

When hiring a Reliability Engineer, New Zealand employers look for candidates who hold a degree in a Mechanical, Electrical or a similar field of Engineering, and most positions would require several years’ experience working in Quality Assurance or Control.


Typical Responsibilities

The typical responsibilities of a Reliability Engineer can include all or some of the following:


  • Ensuring engineering installations are cost effective, maintainable and reliable
  • Conducting periodic, onsite checks to evaluate risks and hazards
  • Designing and implementing reliability and maintainability processes and procedures
  • Using and maintaining reliability and maintainability equipment and tools
  • Identifying root-causes of problems and troubleshooting them


Progression
Most Reliability Engineers progress their careers further by becoming experienced specialists or moving into management or training positions. Alternatively, Reliability Engineers can also choose to specialise in other areas of Engineering such as Mechanical or Electrical.

Salary Range

45K – 90K per annum (NZD)
