THE POSITION
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior (or strong Intermediate) Environmental Engineer to take a leading role in delivering high-quality environmental projects. You’ll provide technical leadership, oversee project delivery, and mentor junior staff, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Experience of delivering stormwater projects is highly desirable.
MAIN DUTIES
· Lead environmental engineering projects from cost estimation and client management to end-to-end project delivery
· Prepare environmental engineering designs, modelling, and reports, and liaise with councils for design approvals
· Observe and certify environmental engineering elements of construction works
· Ensure adherence to quality assurance (ISO 9001) and health and safety practices
· Liaise with clients, contractors, local authorities, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery and exceptional service

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
· In-depth knowledge of environmental engineering design, scoping, and investigation
· Extensive experience in the assessment, planning, and design of three waters infrastructure
· Understanding of related disciplines such as road design, geotechnical engineering, and surveying
· Competence in environmental engineering software and design packages
· Familiarity with regulatory authority requirements, standards, and codes of practice
· Strong report writing and communication skills
· Proven experience supervising and mentoring junior staff
QUALIFICATIONS
· Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Engineering (eg BEngTech, Diploma, NZCE), or significant practical and relevant experience, or working towards a relevant tertiary qualification
· Member of Engineering NZ, ideally working towards Chartered Member (CMEngNZ) and Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
· Current NZ Driver’s Licence
· Competency in MS Office
