We’re working with a respected civil contractor with a strong footprint in the Wairarapa, and they’re seeking an experienced Water Technician or 3 Waters Foreperson to lead crews across a growing pipeline of residential infrastructure projects.

This is a key leadership role on the ground, overseeing the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of potable water, wastewater, and stormwater networks within new subdivisions. You'll coordinate day-to-day operations, ensure site safety and environmental compliance, and liaise with engineers, subcontractors, and council inspectors to deliver high-quality outcomes on time and within scope.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive hourly rate: $40 – $50/hr, depending on experience
  • Permanent, full-time role with long-term work in the region
  • Vehicle included for the right candidate
  • All PPE provided, ongoing support from an established team
  • Projects located across Masterton and wider Wairarapa – no long commutes
  • Be part of a growing civil business with a strong focus on quality and safety

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading a crew on 3 Waters installations – including trenching, pipe-laying, pressure testing, and manhole construction
  • Interpreting construction plans and as-builts
  • Coordinating daily site operations, plant, and material deliveries
  • Ensuring compliance with council specifications and NZS 3910
  • Completing site documentation, toolbox talks, and health & safety briefings
  • Communicating effectively with clients, consultants, and inspectors

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Proven experience in water reticulation, ideally in a foreperson or leading hand role
  • Water Reticulation Ticket (Level 3 or above) – essential
  • WTR endorsements (Wheels, Tracks & Rollers) – highly regarded
  • Sound knowledge of civil infrastructure standards
  • Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and environmental controls
  • Fit, reliable, and able to lead from the front with a hands-on approach

This is an ideal opportunity for someone local to the Wairarapa looking for a stable, well-paying role in a growing region – with long-term projects and clear career development potential.
