RealNZ is looking for an experienced marine professional to lead the strategic management and long-term planning of its marine assets.
This is a role focused on looking beyond today's maintenance requirements. You'll take a longer-term view of the fleet, developing asset strategies and plans that consider lifecycle, reliability, compliance, renewal requirements and future investment.
Reporting to the GM Asset - Tourism, you'll lead a small marine asset team and work closely with the wider Maritime Operations and Asset Management functions. The role has three direct reports: Marine Superintendent -Technical, Marine Superintendent - TSS Earnslaw and Marine Systems Planner.
The opportunity

- Maintaining effective asset information and configuration management
- Investigating significant asset failures and supporting the resolution of technical issues
- Managing asset risk and contingency planning
- Working closely with Maritime Operations, internal stakeholders, contractors and suppliers
- Leading and developing the marine asset team.
These responsibilities closely reflect the formal position description.
About you
First and foremost, you'll bring a strong marine engineering background and an understanding of the challenges involved in managing marine assets.
You may already be an experienced marine asset manager, or you could be a capable marine engineer ready to broaden your career into strategic asset management.
We're interested in people with:
- Strong marine engineering knowledge and experience
- Experience managing marine assets or vessel engineering and maintenance
- An understanding of lifecycle management and maintenance planning

- Strong stakeholder, contractor and supplier management skills
- A practical, forward-looking approach to asset management.
Asset management qualifications such as IAM, IPWEA or CAMA would be advantageous, as would project management qualifications or experience.
Just as importantly, you'll be someone who can look beyond the immediate maintenance programme and think about what the fleet will need in the years ahead.
Why RealNZ?
This is an opportunity to take real ownership of the long-term direction of an interesting and varied marine asset portfolio, helping ensure RealNZ’s fleet is managed responsibly for the unique environments in which it operates.
There is scope to bring greater structure to long-term asset planning and have a genuine influence on future maintenance, renewal and investment decisions.
