The Position
We are seeking a Health & Safety Assistant to support the delivery of practical, site-based health and safety across a range of civil construction projects. Working alongside Project Managers, Site Managers, and site teams, you will help maintain safe work environments and promote a positive safety culture every day. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on site, building strong relationships, and contributing to the success of active projects. You will play an important role in supporting safe systems of work, assisting with compliance, and helping teams stay focused on best practice.
Skills and Experience required
- Previous experience in health and safety within civil construction in New Zealand
- Sound understanding of NZ health and safety requirements and site practices
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with people at all levels
- A proactive, practical approach with good problem-solving ability
- Confidence to work across multiple sites and support different teams
- A genuine interest in continuous improvement and safe work outcomes
