Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and hydraulic servicing, diagnostics, overhauls, and repairs on a wide range of heavy mobile equipment.
- Specialise in underground mining fleets and auxiliary equipment in both underground and workshop environments.
- Carry out advanced mechanical troubleshooting, component replacement, and fault finding to minimise downtime.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on diesel engines, powertrains, and hydraulic systems, and respond to breakdowns as needed.
- Inspect, test, and maintain mobile plant equipment, suspension, and braking systems.
- Work safely and ensure all tasks align with site safety and environmental standards.
- Work closely with supervisors, planners, and fellow trades to support efficient operations.
To Be Successful, You Will Have
- A recognised trade qualification – Mobile Plant Mechanic / Heavy Diesel Fitter (Cert III in Mobile Plant Technology or equivalent).
- Proven experience working within underground mining environments or on underground mobile plant equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability across major underground fleets, including Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Volvo, and Normet.
- Solid understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic circuits, power shift transmissions, and air conditioning systems.
- Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with site procedures.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
