About the Role:
We are seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our client's commercial team in the Waikato Region. You will work alongside Senior QSs and Project Managers to manage project costs, administer contracts, and support the successful delivery of projects from tender through to final account. This is a great opportunity for a QS looking to step up and take on greater commercial responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit progress claims, variations, and cost reports
- Assist with tender preparation, subcontractor procurement, and cost estimating
- Administer subcontracts and maintain accurate project documentation
- Monitor project costs and assist with budget and cash flow forecasting
- Measure and price works in accordance with contract requirements
- Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
- Support month-end reporting and final account preparation
Requirements:
- 3–5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the NZ construction industry
- Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- Working knowledge of NZ construction contracts (NZS3910) and industry practices
- Experience with cost management software and MS Office (particularly Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and good numerical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred:
- Main contractor experience
- Membership with NZIQS or RICS (or working toward)
- Experience on commercial or infrastructure projects
