RobLawMax is partnering with Lyttelton Engineering
to appoint an experienced Intermediate or Senior level Design / Project Engineer to join their Lyttelton-based operation.
This is a technically hands-on role focused on the design and delivery of industrial mechanical systems. You will take ownership of projects from concept and detailed design through fabrication, installation and commissioning, working within a practical, build-focused environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Leading mechanical design & build projects across industrial plant and infrastructure
- Developing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings (ideally SolidWorks)
- Producing calculations, specifications and design documentation
- Managing technical documentation and revision control
- Coordinating with workshop, site teams, suppliers and clients
- Ensuring compliance with applicable NZ standards and industry codes
- Supporting commissioning and technical problem-solving during build phases
This role requires an engineer who can operate with autonomy, make sound engineering judgements, and maintain high documentation discipline.
Technical Requirements
- 5-7+ years’ post-graduate experience in Mechanical (or Process) Engineering
- Demonstrated experience as project lead on larger design & build projects
- Competent in SolidWorks
- Strong technical documentation and drawing package management capability
To be effective from day one, you will need solid working knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
- Boilers and associated systems
- Pressure vessels
- Industrial piping systems
- Materials handling systems
Experience across multiple areas is advantageous; however, depth in at least one is required. Broader capability can be developed over time within the business.
