This is a Mechanical Design/Project Engineer role in industrial refrigeration, combining client-facing project work with detailed 3D design and documentation.
Experience of working on compressor / refrigeration projects is essential.
The Company
A specialist engineering business designing and manufacturing large-scale industrial refrigeration and process gas compressor packages for New Zealand clients. Projects support sectors such as dairy, meat processing, cold storage and process chilling, with solutions tailored to specific site and process requirements. The Auckland team offers design, build, technical support and commissioning assistance, working to relevant New Zealand pressure equipment standards.
The Position
Take ownership of mechanical design and project engineering/management for industrial refrigeration compressor packages, from concept through to manufacture and delivery. Prepare 3D and 2D CAD designs, general arrangements, construction drawings, P&IDs and detailed bills of materials using Inventor. Work closely with clients, suppliers and the fabrication partner to manage specifications, reviews, queries and project milestones.
Skills and experience required
· Design experience in industrial compressor / refrigeration is essential.
· Mechanical or process engineering qualification (e.g. NZDE/BE) and at least four years’ relevant design or project engineering experience.
· Proficiency with 3D/2D CAD (Inventor preferred), strong Excel skills, and proven experience producing P&IDs and accurate bills of materials.
· Strong communication and organisational skills, a proactive, learning-focused attitude, and experience with industrial refrigeration or process systems is highly advantageous.
