An established, fast-growing organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll & Accounts Payable Lead to take ownership of payroll delivery and AP operations across a complex, multi-entity environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who brings strong systems expertise and thrives in large, fast-paced businesses.
The opportunity;
You’ll lead end-to-end payroll and accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. Working closely with all business under this company, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining system integrity while supporting a sizeable and diverse workforce.
Key responsibilities;
- End-to-end payroll processing across multiple entities and large employee numbers
- Confident use of Employment Hero Payroll and HR systems (essential)
- Managing AP operations including supplier payments, reconciliations and controls
- Ensuring compliance with NZ payroll legislation, tax, KiwiSaver and employment agreements
- Acting as the escalation point for complex payroll and AP queries
- Reviewing and improving payroll and AP systems, controls and workflows
- Supporting audits, reporting and process documentation
- Partnering with HR and Finance to ensure accurate people and financial data
About you;
- Demonstrated experience in payroll and accounts payable within medium to large organisations e.g paying 150+ people per week.
- Hands-on experience with Employment Hero Payroll and HR systems
- Experience using Xero is strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of NZ payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- High attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Confident communicator able to engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Comfortable owning processes and driving improvements - AGILITY
- Happy to upskill and learn other areas in the accounts
