An opportunity exists for an experienced civil infrastructure professional to join a major transport project and act as the client's representative throughout project delivery.
This is not a traditional contractor-side Project Manager role.
You will be the eyes and ears on the ground, ensuring the companies interests are protected, commitments are delivered, and allocated workstreams are progressing as planned. Working within a complex project environment involving multiple contractors, consultants and stakeholders, you will play a critical role in coordinating activities, holding delivery partners accountable and ensuring your organisation receives the outcomes it is responsible for.
This role requires someone who can confidently take up space in project meetings, challenge assumptions when required, build strong working relationships and influence outcomes across a broad stakeholder group.

About the Role
Reporting into senior project leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring assigned project scopes are delivered effectively and that commitments made by delivery partners are achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the client's representative across assigned project workstreams.
- Monitoring project progress and ensuring agreed deliverables are achieved.
- Coordinating with contractors, consultants and project partners to drive outcomes.
- Identifying risks, issues and delivery gaps before they impact programme objectives.
- Managing stakeholder relationships and representing the client's interests in meetings and project forums.
- Reviewing project performance, reporting and commercial outcomes.
- Supporting contract administration, variations and project controls.
- Ensuring safety, quality and environmental expectations are consistently achieved.
- Providing clear reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Driving accountability across all parties involved in project delivery.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- An Engineering Degree or Diploma.
- Proven experience delivering major civil infrastructure projects within New Zealand.
- Strong knowledge of granular pavements, pavement construction and asphalt concrete works.
- Strong understanding of NZS3910 and commercial project delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The confidence and presence to operate effectively in complex project environments with multiple delivery partners.
- Strong commercial acumen, project controls and risk management capability.
- Current New Zealand working rights with the ability to work permanently in New Zealand.
