About the Role
We're looking for a motivated and safety-focused technician who takes pride in delivering quality work and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities not limited to:
- Providing expertise on testing, commissioning, repairs & maintenance across the power distribution network
- Conducting maintenance tests on high voltage rotating plant
- Conducting acceptance and maintenance tests on distance protection relays
- Capable of carrying out primary and secondary testing
- Fault finding analysis of Substation and Control Systems
- Working to international standards
- Installing/maintaining substation and other high voltage equipment, as per job instructions and specifications, meeting current regulations and standards
- Conducting inspections and servicing tests on control instrumentation and indication hardwired system
- Produce quality assurance documentation
- Managing electricity supply work control systems
- Understand and comply with your obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and all associated regulations, standards, and approved codes of practice
Qualifications and Skills:
- National Certificate in Electrical Supply (Power Technician) Level 5 or similar with two years or more post qualification experience
- A tertiary qualification at a polytechnic diploma level is required
- EWRB Practicing License Required
- Hands-on experience in power systems and electrical protection work to industry standards
- A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Sound computer skills
- High voltage protection system commissioning experience and confidence to make decisions autonomously
- Possess a valid full and clean NZ driver’s license
