An established and growing Lower North Island engineering business is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Structural Engineer to join the team in a senior capacity.
The company delivers specialist industrial engineering solutions including heavy mechanical systems, structural steel design, material handling systems and pressure equipment. Due to succession planning, continued project growth and a strong forward workload, they are now looking to appoint a senior engineer who can take ownership of technical delivery while contributing to broader project success.
This is a hands-on role within a practical, delivery-focused engineering environment - not a corporate consultancy setting.
The Role
- Depending on your background, this position may suit:
- A Senior Mechanical Engineer with design and manufacturing experience in pressure equipment, material handling systems or industrial plant
- A Senior Structural Engineer with exposure to heavy industrial steel and supporting structure design and manufacture
- A Chartered Mechanical or Structural Engineer seeking broader design and project ownership
- An experienced engineer ready to step toward Design Lead or senior technical leadership
You will play a key role in design oversight, technical sign-off, tender support and client interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and review mechanical or structural design outputs
- Support tendering and project documentation
- Provide practical, buildable engineering solutions
- Interface with fabrication, machining, site teams and clients
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement, health & safety and quality systems
About You
- 8–15+ years’ engineering experience
- Mechanical or Structural engineering background
- Experience in material handling, pressure equipment, lifting equipment or industrial structures advantageous
