An established Lower North Island engineering business is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the team in a senior capacity.
The business delivers specialist industrial engineering solutions across heavy mechanical systems, structural steel, material handling equipment and custom-engineered industrial projects.
This is a practical, delivery-focused engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving real-world engineering problems and working closely with workshop and operational teams to deliver buildable solutions.
The Role
You will play a key role across mechanical design, technical problem solving and project delivery while supporting clients and fabrication teams across a diverse range of industrial projects.
The role may suit someone with experience in:
- Heavy mechanical engineering
- Structural steel and fabrication environments
- Industrial plant and equipment
- Materials handling systems
- Custom-engineered industrial projects
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and review mechanical design work
- Develop practical and buildable engineering solutions
- Support tendering and technical documentation
- Work closely with fabrication, machining and site teams
- Liaise directly with clients, suppliers and contractors
- Support project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
- Mechanical engineering background with practical industrial experience
- Strong understanding of fabrication and heavy engineering environments
- Experience working around industrial equipment or heavy steel structures advantageous
- Comfortable operating autonomously within a smaller engineering business
- Practical mindset with strong problem-solving capability
- Chartered status beneficial but not essential
