We are partnering with a well-established national project management consultancy to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager Buildings / Vertical (Team Leader) for their Wellington office. This position suits someone who is already leading people and projects, either formally by title or through demonstrated team leadership responsibility and is looking to continue operating at a senior leadership level within a respected consultancy environment.

As a Senior Project Manager Buildings / Vertical (Team Leader) you will lead a buildings delivery team while managing complex vertical construction projects. The organisation promotes an office-first culture that values collaboration, professional development, and high-quality client outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, and direction to an internal buildings delivery team
  • Lead the delivery of vertical construction projects, typically valued at $20m+, ensuring programme, cost, and quality objectives are achieved
  • Act as a senior client interface, building trusted relationships and ensuring consistent service delivery
  • Support team capability development through coaching, technical guidance, and performance oversight
  • Contribute to business development activities including client meetings, proposals, and tenders
  • Manage project risk, financial performance, and reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety obligations and organisational policies

About you:

  • Operating at a level equal to experience gained over 10+ years delivering building and vertical construction projects
  • Currently operating as a Team Leader, or in a role where you have clear responsibility for leading and developing project teams
  • Tertiary qualification in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline
  • Consultancy and/or client-side project management experience
  • Exposure to vertical build and seismic strengthening projects
  • Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially astute with experience overseeing project budgets and delivery performance
  • Well-connected within the Wellington construction market
