RobLawMax have partnered with a medium sized Structural Steel Fabrication and Erection Company based in Timaru. With a continuing increased workload and forward work throughout 2025-26 they are looking for a Steel Erector to join their company.
If you enjoy working outside, getting to work in various locations around the South Island and being able to feel the satisfaction of physically building large structures this position would be for you.
The successful applicant will have a great work ethic, work to a consistent level of quality and high level of detail, be punctual and have a minimum of 3+ years Structural Steel erection experience with some experience at a sole charge level. The role will require the successful applicant to work on occasion on their own as the representative onsite.
Role and Responsibilities
- Accurately erect steelwork in a productive manner to the required standards and specification within an acceptable timeframe.
- Ability to read drawings and work accurately to the required set
- Operate EWP’s, heights and lifting equipment required for the task (Scissor lifts and Knuckle booms)
- Direct and communicate with cranes effectively
- Select and operate the correct equipment effectively for the task
- Use consumables without wasting to reduce (PPE, Gloves, grinding wheels, etc.)
- Weld in all positions with arc welding equipment if
- Clean and finish onsite welding or damage to paint and coat to a clean and tidy
What's in it for you
- Pay rate $30 - $36 per hour (depending on experience)
- Standard 40 hour contract worked Monday to Friday, also Saturday mornings when workload requires it
- Time and a Half over 40 hours
- When working onsite in a sole charge position a company vehicle will be provided
They work with builders through Central Otago and the Mackenzie District so with this type of work needing some "problem solving due to site issues" if you have experience with fabrication this would be of an advantage and recognized within the package on offer.
