About The Role

This Auckland-based role will design and lead the procurement strategy for our client’s capital works and programme. You will not just run tenders; you will build the commercial framework that ensures they achieve value for money, social procurement outcomes, and sustainable supply chain partnerships. This is a senior role requiring someone who can influence at the executive level and translate complex construction and engineering requirements into robust procurement plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the strategic procurement plan, including category strategies for construction, civil works, and professional services.
  • Embed the company’s community and sustainability goals (e.g., local employment, Māori business participation) into procurement processes and contracts.
  • Lead high-value, complex negotiations with main contractors and consultants, ensuring risk allocation and commercial outcomes are aligned with the company’s objectives.
  • Establish governance and performance frameworks for key supplier partners, moving beyond transactional management to strategic collaboration.
  • Provide expert advice to project directors and the executive team on procurement compliance, probity, and best practice (including NZ Government Procurement Rules where applicable).
  • Mentor and uplift procurement capability across the organisation.

What You Bring

  • At least 7+ years in procurement, with at least 3 years in a senior/strategic capacity, ideally within construction, infrastructure, or property development.
  • Relevant tertiary degree (Commerce, Law, Engineering, Construction Management) and/or CIPS accreditation.
  • Proven ability to develop procurement strategies that balance commercial rigour with broader social and environmental outcomes.
  • Experience working with iwi, community groups, or public-sector stakeholders is highly advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of NZ construction contracts (NZS 3910/3915), risk management, and cost planning.

The Offer

  • $150,000 – $180,000 base per annum
  • Potential performance bonus
