We’re looking for a Substation Design Engineer with deep experience across high-voltage power infrastructure — someone who understands how substations tie directly into network reliability, system strength and the integration of new renewable generation.
If you enjoy working at the centre of NZ’s electrical power grid, designing the assets that keep the lights on and enable the next wave of wind, solar and BESS projects… this is the role.
What you’ll bring:

Strong experience in HV substation design across primary and secondary systems (11kV–220kV).

Knowledge of power system equipment — transformers, switchgear, busbars, disconnectors, CTs/VTs, earthing systems.

Ability to develop SLDs, protection interfaces, wiring diagrams, GA layouts, cabling plans.

Understanding of power system protection, SCADA/automation and control philosophies.

Exposure to utility standards and electrical safety requirements across NZ’s power networks.

Ability to collaborate with civil, structural, power system and protection engineers.
