Were looking for a hands-on Water Reticulation Operator
with a practical background in water, civil or infrastructure work to join an experienced team delivering essential water network maintenance across Selwyn and the wider Canterbury region.
Youll be operating excavators, small plant, pumps and other equipment, while working around underground services and live water infrastructure. Youll need to be confident with tools and machinery, comfortable troubleshooting faults, and committed to getting the job done safely and to a high standard.
Youll be joining a team that values good workmanship, safety, reliability and looking after each other. Whether you already have water reticulation experience or come from a strong civil or trade background, this is an opportunity to build your technical skills and develop a long-term career in the water industry.
What Were Looking For:
Were looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, being outdoors and getting stuck in.
You will be able to:
- Be safe and competent operation of excavators, diggers and other small plant
- Have experience operating compaction equipment, pumps and water-related machinery
- Understand water mains, service connections, valves, hydrants and fittings.
- Have the ability to install, repair and replace water pipes and associated components.
- Understand procedures required to protect drinking-water quality during maintenance and repairs.
- Have the ability to interpret network plans, drawings and underground service information.
Youll ideally have:
- A Class 1 Driver Licence
- A positive, can-do attitude
- A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
- Good practical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work well both on your own and as part of a team
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- Good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors
- The flexibility to take part in on-call and after-hours work
You dont need to be an experienced water reticulation operator. What matters most to us is finding someone who is reliable, practical, safety-focused and keen to learn. You'll be provided training and support to help you build your skills and develop a career in the water industry.
