The company has strong core values and fosters an inclusive, diverse, positive & supportive culture.The positionThe company is now looking to hire an experienced Workshop Supervisor. This is a senior position running a workshop staff of c.120 people and will act as a ‘right hand man’ to the Workshop Manager, supervising, training and advising other supervisors / foremen and the wider workshop team.The Workshop Supervisor determines job specific manufacturing requirements and how to stage each job so that production flows efficiently and effectively. There can be 15 jobs at a time during busy periods, so attention to detail and strong organisation and follow through skills are imperative. Good relationships are critical in this role to ensure open communication across all areas of the workshop as well as cooperation, coordination and integration of production elements. The position is based at their head office and production facility in Henderson, West Auckland. The salary will be dependent on experience but is in the range of $110-130k, plus profit share, company vehicle and medical insurance.The ideal candidateA strong background in structural steel fabrication is strongly preferred, along with the ability to review job drawings to determine requirements for manufacturing, how to accommodate, staff and sequence them.Applicants will ideally come from the shop floor with a hands-on trade background but now with leadership skills and experience managing and directing staff. Alternatively it could be someone from any other engineering background, or someone that has workshop supervision experience from a related industry.Qualifications, skills & experience required10-15 years+ of experience in supervisory roles from industries such as steel fabrication, machine shop or heavy constructionFabrication and welding experience is essentialKnowledge of NDT (non-destructive testing) background preferredAbility to read and understand technical drawings (engineering & isometric) to determine how to breakdown production and manufacturing into sequences and timelinesMust have knowledge of other industry or engineering testing standards such as AS/NZS1554.1, AS/NZS5131 and ISO 9606Excellent communicator with strong people skillsHigh standard of accuracy and efficiencyLeads by example in working collaboratively with other team members to ensure safety, accuracy, efficiency and quality at all timesAble to take direction from the Workshop Manager and delegate/nominate work as appropriateComfortable challenging others when necessaryThe ability to effectively train staff, new and existingTo apply, click on the link or send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org quoting reference SP72013.
